Jaguar vs BMW: Design

2020 Jaguar XEFrom sporty coupes to family friendly SUVs, every Jaguar has the kind of design that stands out in a crowd. Each one features elements of the brand’s vintage roadsters. They make a bold first impression with a large, black mesh grille, an aerodynamic design, and the iconic Jaguar logo.

BMW also keep things consistent across its lineup. Both cars and SUVs feature the familiar chrome cascading grille, wide frame, and flat front. While this doesn’t look bad, it doesn’t do much to excite drivers or the average passerby. It’s no wonder that BMW sedans are often used as taxis in their native Germany.

Jaguar vs BMW: Capable SUVs

The best luxury SUVs are both stylish and prepared for tough driving conditions. The Jaguar F-PACE checks both of those boxes and offers lots of power under the hood. It runs on standard all-wheel drive and lets you adapt with selectable driving modes like Rain, Ice, and Snow.

It also offers the kind of drive you’d expect from a sports car, rather than an SUV. Its supercharged 5.0L V8 gets up to 550 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque. With that kind of performance, you can accelerate quickly and tow up to 5,291 pounds.

Its counterpart, the BMW X3, isn’t as capable or exciting. It has standard front-wheel drive and can only deliver up to 382 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque. That limits its towing capacity to 4,400 pounds.

Jaguar vs BMW: Technology Features

2020 Jaguar XE Technology FeaturesA touchscreen display comes standard in nearly every Jaguar and BMW. Their infotainment systems are easy to use and come with lots of smartphone compatibility. For example in the Jaguar, the Touch Pro™ system lets you stream music and make hands-free calls with Bluetooth®. You can also sync your smartphone apps and use them while you drive with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.

A navigation system is also available to take you on the fastest route. You can see where you’re headed on a large digital display, or a futuristic looking Head-Up Display that projects your directions in front your steering wheel.

The BMW also offers a digital instrument cluster and a Head-Up Display. Its infotainment system also comes with Bluetooth® and Apple CarPlay®. Unfortunately, it only offers that kind of smartphone compatibility to iPhone users. BMW neglects drivers with other types of phones by not offering Android Auto™ on any models.
